Re: Do we want to build a snowman?

Wolf, do you have any preliminary ideas of what you want from the chat protocol or are you still mulling it over and doing research?

Re: Do we want to build a snowman?

Yes, so much this. But that's not the main reason I want my protocol to be usable with telnet. The main reason is that it helps a lot with debugging, troubleshooting, and with understanding the protocol. It also makes it easier to test edge cases, and to experiment with new potential features. Oh i...

Re: [Assembler/C] How I Ended Up Writing A DNS Client and IRC Client In Assembler

Well, if I was writing an IRC client in asm, I'd just make the user provide the server's IP address instead of hostname, at least initially. But that's just me being lazy. Yeah, that was originally the plan? But IIRC I noticed that the RFC makes domain names necessary? In retrospect it might have b...

Re: Do we want to build a snowman?

I've been mulling over implementing a simple server for a protocol that you can use telnet with. There's something kind of beautiful about being able to crack open telnet (or ssh or whatever) and just type the commands that the server expects? FWIW I also absolutely adore SDF's com system. It's secu...

Re: [Assembler/C] How I Ended Up Writing A DNS Client and IRC Client In Assembler

Sounds like a long way to go. IIRC a DNS client, especially an async one, is hard to write even in C, let alone asm. It looks marginally 'easy'? But there are certain assumptions I can make that others might not be able to :D For example, as far as I can tell I only have to deal with parsing A and ...

I guess I should do one of these?

At the risk of flooding this forum, lol. Hi! I'm Alexandria~! I do systems-programming in my spare time, and when I was in work I did distributed security stuffs. Currently I'm NEET while I finish up some projects and courses. I have a weird and abominably awful sleep times, haha. I'm learning Chine...

Re: introducing michcioperz as the administrator

Hi, I'm Michcioperz. I study Computer Science and I decided to put up an old school (as much as phpBB 3 can be old school) forum on this address after my Pleroma instance died twice. I hope I can be a good admin :) https://i.pinimg.com/originals/56/a7/c2/56a7c2a1ce04be74e1dcef41aaefe142.gif :P

Feeping Creaturism #1

I just had an idea for something that might be amusing. Basically the idea is, one person starts off with a program that does maybe, one thing. Another person takes the program and adds something to it/improves upon it, then the next person in the thread does the same, and so on. So, basically the r...

Re: Category suggestions

I think the question is, what do you want this to be centered around, and how big do you want it to get (specifically, re: invites) EDIT: I should add that, while these are pertinent questions there's really no rush or pressure to answer them? Like what I'm saying is, it's worth thinking about, but ...
